Position Overview: Chelsea Academy invites applications for a full-time Upper School teaching position combining History and English for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will teach courses in both disciplines and contribute to the vibrant intellectual and spiritual life of the school. Teaching Responsibilities • History & English Courses: o 6th Grade History o 7th Grade History o 10th Grade Medieval European History o 10th Grade Composition and Medieval Literature o 11th Grade Early Modern and Modern European History Qualifications

  • A practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep commitment to the mission and identity of Chelsea Academy.
  • Bachelor's degree in History, English or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Strong background in both humanities and English, with the ability to integrate disciplines within a liberal arts framework.
  • Commitment to the vision, mission, and Catholic identity of Chelsea Academy
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring students and participating in the broader life of the school.
  • A love of teaching and learning rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition.
  • Ability to inspire students to think critically, reason logically, and appreciate the unity of truth across disciplines.
  • Willingness to engage in the spiritual, cultural, and extracurricular life of the Academy, including retreats, service projects, and community events.
  • Ability to be flexible in a smaller-school environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work as a team player with teachers and staff.

About the Curriculum and Culture: Chelsea Academy's curriculum is designed to cultivate wisdom and virtue through a rigorous and integrated liberal arts education. History courses emphasize the study of human civilization, the development of Western culture, and the moral lessons drawn from the past. English courses emphasize the close reading of great works of literature in the light of truth, beauty, and goodness, cultivating clear and persuasive writing, thoughtful discussion, moral imagination, and an appreciation for the enduring insights of the Western intellectual and Christian traditions.
